"Warm hands lead to a warm heart"

Hello, my name is Vicki Rickett. I make mittens (including fingerless, hunting, driving, smittens & specialty mittens for those with a hand deformity)  hats, headbands, scarfs, purses, hair accessories, cat blankets & toys out of recycled sweaters using wool, alpaca, cashmere, camel, llama and vicuna. The material is pre-shrunk and washer & dryer friendly. I add polar fleece in the mittens as a lining for extra warmth. The top layer of the mitten consists of four different sweater pieces and the lining consists of three different cuts of fleece plus a button is added to the women’s for the extra touch of “bling”.

The process of creating the mittens starts from purchasing our sweaters from a store or grandmas closet. It then gets felted to bind the fiber and dried. Next, it goes through a stripping stage so all the seams and cuffs are cut off of the sweater. After that, we need to decide on the top piece and pattern. Once the top piece has been decided upon, the pieces for the palm and fingers need to be matched as well as the cuff and buttons. From the start of choosing a sweater for the top piece, it takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to assemble each pair of custom mittens.

All custom made products that require a deviation in sizes are not refundable.
